Welcome to the Deaf Centre in Kwale!

The Deaf Centre is a community centre for Deaf people in Kwale county in southeast Kenya. It is primarily a meeting place for Deaf people from all over the region, and a home-work facility for approximately 20 Deaf young adults who live there and receive all kinds of social support programs. The Deaf Centre offers sports facilities, a conference room, agricultural land, and several educational and small business projects. The goal is to create opportunities for Deaf youth and to create positive awareness about deafness, Deaf Culture, and Sign Language all over Kwale.

In addition, the Deaf Centre offers a Bed & Breakfast for travelers, tourists and business people, and several cultural excursions and activities in and around Kwale.

Sports is an important tool for development of the Deaf Community. The Deaf Centre functions as a regional hub for inclusive sports activities and is the base of the SPAT project, a program aimed at creating positive awareness about deafness through sports and movement.
